  10. 1/2 cup khova / mawa
  11. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  12. as required Dry fruits (chopped)

Instructions to make Mohanthal

  1. Firstly, in a large bowl take 3 cup gram flour,1/4 cup ghee and 1/4 cup milk.
  2. Crumble and mix until the gram flour turns moist.
  3. Keep rubbing, until the gram flour turns grainy texture.
  4. Now sieve the gram flour using a large holes sieve.
  5. The gram flour turns grainy texture. Keep aside.
  6. To roast besan :
    In a large pan heat 1 cup ghee and add besan mixture.
  7. Keep roasting the gram flour on low flame.
  8. After roasting for 20 minutes., the besan turns golden brown and ghee releases from sides.
  9. Now add 1/2 cup milk and mix continuously.
  10. The mixture turns frothy forming a more grainy texture.
  11. Keep cooking the gram flour until the milk is absorbed completely.
  12. Transfer to bowl and keep aside.
  13. Now for sugar syrup :
    In a large pan add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water.
  14. Boil until 1 string consistency of sugar syrup is attained.
  15. Further, add 1/2 cup mawa and mix well. Mix until the mawa is well combined in sugar syrup.
  16. Now add roasted gram flour mixture into the sugar syrup.
  17. Mix well making sure the gram flour is well combined.
  18. Continue to cook until the mixture starts to separate the pan. Also add cardamom powder and mix well.
  19. Transfer the mixture into tray lined with baking paper.
  20. Tap and level up forming an even top.
  21. Rest for 4 hours. Once the burfi has set completely, unmould.
  22. Make pieces into desired shape and garnish with dry fruits.
